Yelan teams preview temp thing

Team Comps & Synergies

Not until she begins to tug on the strings do evildoers, crooks, and scheming villains alike know that there is no escape.

Important Note: Yelan is a very flexible unit and most team arrangements ‘work.’ The following advice is for those who want to maximize Yelan’ s potential for the average player.

Yelan is able to act as a 2nd Xingqiu. This is incredibly valuable as she can substitute into pretty much any team archetype and even be played together with other Hydro Units to great success.

Yelan teams can use a second Hydro Character. While Hydro resonance may not be good, a second Hydro sure is.

Hydro Characters

Featured Hydro Characters

Xingqiu

Xingqiu may seem like a redundant choice, but Xingqiu is the most effective battery for her, especially when wielding an R3+ Sacrificial Sword.

C2 reduces Hydro resistance, a rare buff for Yelan, and covers most of her weaknesses in utility. A flexible unit for all sorts of reaction-based teams.

Yelan and Xingqiu, together, deal such tremendous amounts of damage that they can carry basically any on-field unit.

Team comps can include but are not limited to:

Pyro Characters

Featured Pyro Characters

Hu Tao

Hu Tao is the premier Pyro DPS when looking for high single-target damage. Xingqiu is her favorite teammate and Yelan’s raw firepower sends this team’s damage even higher. Hu Tao gains (at least) one new team from Yelan, including Xingqiu and Xiangling.

N1C combos recommended to control Pyro Application for solo Hydro Teams

N2C are good everywhere else.

Appreciates additional sources of Hydro Application (Kazuha, Xingqiu) but may not require them. See Elemental Application Section

Double Hydro

Besides all the teams where Yelan can fill Xingqiu’s role directly as a replacement, there is one new team that truly shines. Double Hydro, using Yelan and Xingqiu together.

This team is very flexible, to the point where you can choose pretty much any other 2 characters to form it. The general idea is to have a Main Driver/On Field unit and another Flex character of your choice.

Two of the strongest points of this duo is the high amount of damage and Hydro application it can deliver. Due to the rapid fire of Yelan and C6 Xingqiu, the Hydro Aura is up almost the entire time.

Double Hydro + Double FLEX

Yelan

Xingqiu

Any On Field DPS

Any Support

The On Field DPS can be whoever you want. It can be Hu Tao, Raiden, C6 Bennett, or anyone as long as they are constantly using Normal Attacks to trigger Yelan’s Exquisite Throws. This spot can also double as a Driver spot and in teams like taser you can use Yelan as the On Field unit and transform this slot in another Flex option of your choice.

The Flex unit is usually a buffer. It can be Kazuha, Bennett, Zhongli or even another Off Field DPS if you want.

Example teams:

Hu Tao acts as one of the more synergistic On Field Carries. Since Hu Tao is not as ATK buff dependent as most other characters, she has a ton of flexibility in her choice of flex characters. Generally characters like Diluc pretty vastly prefer Bennett, but others are still options.

Flex options can include Zhongli (4AP or INS), Kazuha, Sucrose, Fischl, Xiangling, Bennett. Some Flex options scale better with whaling, some are more defensive, some are more rotation and ER intensive. But all will perform well, your flex mostly comes down to personal preference.

Team Comps & Synergies

Not until she begins to tug on the strings do evildoers, crooks, and scheming villains alike know that there is no escape.

Yelan is an extremely flexible unit and most team arrangements ‘work.’ The following advice is for those who want to maximize Yelan’ s potential for the average player.

Yelan is, first, able to act as a second Xingqiu. This is incredibly valuable as she can substitute into pretty much any team archetype and even be played together with other Hydro Units to great success.

Besides all the teams where Yelan can fill Xingqiu’s role directly as a replacement, there is one new team that truly shines. Double Hydro, using Yelan and Xingqiu together, is the Hydro variation of Xiangling and Bennett. Even if Hydro resonance is weak, the damage that Yelan and Xingqiu bring when paired together cannot be ignored. With Xingqiu’s defensive utility, he also covers many of Yelan’s weaknesses in a team.

Part of why this synergy is so strong is due to the two characters significantly lowering each other’s energy requirements, especially when a Favonius or Sacrificial weapon is on one or more of them. This means both can invest their stats into damage instead of as much Energy Recharge. Xingqiu’s second constellation also reduces Hydro resistance, enabling both of their damage further. Together, they easily maintain a Hydro aura on an enemy for any DPS that wants to exploit it.

This team is very flexible, to the point where you can choose pretty much any other two characters to form it. At high investment, they might not even need teammates at all.

When building a team, the general idea is to have an On Field DPS/Driver of the element you’re interested in making reactions with. Of the current available reactions, Yelan performs especially well in Vaporize and Electro-Charged teams, but can perform in Mono-Hydro, Hydro Swirl, and Freeze teams too.

Vaporize

Most Vaporize teams will include a Pyro on-field DPS, Yelan, a 4pc Viridescent Venerer holder or defensive option, and a flex slot. Pyro DPS choices include Hu Tao, Yoimiya, Diluc, Klee, and Yanfei.

Most of these on-field DPS units can use the same teammates. There’s no need for us to, for example, list [Pyro DPS], Yelan, Zhongli, Xingqiu five separate times. Thus, to prevent redundancy, we will present the DPS choices in each element first, then show example team compositions for DPS’s in that element.
