Noelle Quick Guide

Updated for Version 3.1

Noelle is a 4* Geo Claymore character that utilizes her Elemental Burst to deal AoE Geo Damage while offering high survivability and comfort.

The full-length guide is available [here].

Playstyles

On-field DPS

This role plays to her strengths as a tanky AoE DPS that supports her team with built-in healing. This will be the main focus of the Quick Guide.

Shield/Healer Support

Not recommended. Noelle requires field time to heal and her shield uptime is very low comparative to other shield Supports.

Talents

Talent Priority

Level 90 is recommended to maximize her Base DEF for her DEF-scaling abilities and ATK conversion. Unlike Base ATK, which is sourced from both character level and weapon level, Base DEF relies solely on character level.

>=>

Level NA and Burst equally. Leveling Skill isn’t a priority since the majority of the damage from the Skill comes from C4, which doesn’t scale with Talent levels.

Talents

Normal Attack

Normal Attack | Favonius Bladework – Maid

Normal Attack
Performs up to 4 consecutive strikes.

Charged Attack
Drains Stamina over time to perform continuous spinning attacks against all nearby opponents.
At the end of the sequence, performs a more powerful slash.

Plunging Attack
Plunges from mid-air to strike the ground below, damaging opponents along the path and dealing AoE DMG upon impact.

Noelle performs 3 sweeping AoE attacks and 1 final overhead slam with a narrow width. This is the main source of her damage. Charged Attacks are used in some situations, which will be covered in Combos.

Elemental Skill

Elemental Skill | Breastplate

Summons protective stone armor, dealing Geo DMG to surrounding opponents and creating a shield. The shield’s DMG Absorption scales off of Noelle’s DEF.
The shield has the following properties:
   • When Noelle’s Normal and Charged Attacks hit a target, they have a certain chance to regenerate HP for all characters.
   • Possesses 150% DMG Absorption efficiency against all Elemental and Physical DMG
The amount of HP healed when regeneration is triggered scales based on Noelle’s DEF.

Creates a Geo shield alongside a chance to heal when Noelle hits enemies with her Normal Attacks. This has low uptime, even with Ascension 4, and produces 0 particles. Use it before or within a few seconds after casting Burst and stay close to the target to ensure that the C4 explosion benefits from the Burst-converted ATK while maintaining Geo Resonance alongside Crystallize shields.

Elemental Burst

Elemental Burst | Sweeping Time

Gathering the strength of stone around her weapon, Noelle strikes the opponents surrounding her within a large AoE, dealing Geo DMG. Afterwards, Noelle gains the following effects:
   • Larger attack AoE
  • Converts attack DMG to Geo DMG that cannot be overridden by any other elemental infusion.
   • Increased ATK that scales based on her DEF.

Converts Noelle’s attacks to Geo damage and buffs her ATK based on a ratio of her DEF, which scales with Talent level and snapshots DEF on cast. This also adds significant range to her attacks, which allows her to excel in AoE-oriented situations and clearing mobs.

Ascension 1 Passive

Ascension 1 Passive | Devotion

When Noelle is in the party but not on the field, this ability triggers automatically when your active character’s HP falls below 30%: Creates a shield for your active character that lasts for 20s and absorbs DMG equal to 400% of Noelle’s DEF. The shield has a 150% DMG Absorption effectiveness against all Elemental and Physical DMG. This effect can only occur once every 60s.

Mostly functional as a crutch shield. Useless in most situations but can prevent an Abyss chamber wipe if your Skill is broken early in a rotation or when a teammate takes too much damage while unshielded.

Ascension 4 Passive

Ascension 4 Passive | Nice and Clean

Noelle will decrease the CD of Breastplate by 1s for every 4 Normal or Charged Attack hits she scores on opponents.

One hit may be counted every 0.1s.

Useful in maintaining shield and Geo Resonance uptimes in teams without another shielder.

Utility Passive

Utility Passive | Maid’s Knighthood

When a Perfect Cooking is achieved on a DEF-boosting dish, Noelle has a 12% chance to obtain double the product.

Helps you make more DEF food, which is great on Noelle since it provides both defense and offense for the hard content that you might face, barring Spiral Abyss.

Constellations

Constellation 1

Constellation 1 | I’ve Got Your Back

While Sweeping Time and Breastplate are both in effect, the chance of Breastplate’s healing effects activating is increased to 100%.

Helps with keeping the team healthy and removes the RNG aspect of her healing.

Constellation 2

Constellation 2 | Combat Maid

Decreases the Stamina Consumption of Noelle’s Charged Attacks by 20% and increases her Charged Attack DMG by 15%.

Bonus damage for the on-field Charged-Attack-centric playstyle. The DMG% is additive so the damage increase will be less than 15% in practice.

Constellation 3

Constellation 3 | Invulnerable Maid

Increases the Level of Breastplate by 3.
Maximum upgrade level is 15.

Enhances shielding and healing capabilities, adding to Noelle’s and her teams’ comfort aspect.

Constellation 4

Constellation 4 | To be Cleaned

When Breastplate’s duration expires or it is destroyed by DMG, it will deal 400% ATK of Geo DMG to surrounding opponents.

Small AoE but highly damaging. Though on a high cooldown (tied to Skill), it is the highest ratio she has available in her kit and offers a good burst of damage, which Noelle lacks.

Constellation 5

Constellation 5 | Favonius Sweeper Master

Increases the Level of Sweeping Time by 3.
Maximum upgrade level is 15.

Significant boost to Noelle’s damage. After Talent Level 9 (or C6), Noelle starts to benefit more from building DEF than ATK, and you can start using DEF builds without having to crown Noelle’s Elemental Burst.

Constellation 6

Constellation 6 | Must be Spotless

Sweeping Time increases Noelle’s ATK by an additional 50% of her DEF. Additionally, every opponent defeated during the skill’s duration adds 1s to the duration, up to 10s.

Significant boost to Noelle’s damage. The burst extension is very effective for AoE-centric content.

Combos

N# = Corresponding number of consecutive Normal Attacks
E = Elemental Skill
Q = Elemental Burst

Simply aim to have around 4 attack strings (N4D or N3D) per rotation to get good value in a team that focuses around her own damage. Other teams where Noelle functions more as a driver may use less or more. When chasing enemies and/or playing on high ping, you can find yourself needing to reduce attacks as well to accommodate for team ability uptime.

ComboUsage
E Q N3D N3 (swap to battery) (x)N3DUse this in AoE encounters. N3 combos cleave multiple enemies easily.
E Q N4D N4 (swap to battery) (x)N4DUse this in single target encounters. N4 is narrow and can only hit targets directly in front of Noelle.
E Q CA (swap to battery) CACharged Attack-centric playstyles are enabled with Redhorn Stonethresher. Use her uptime to spin to win.

Artifacts

ER Requirements

These numbers are approximate; your mileage may vary. For a more accurate estimate of your requirements based on your team and gear, use Zakharov’s Energy Recharge Calculator

ER RequirementSituation
~120-130%One or more designated Geo batteries (see Notable Teammates).
<120%One or more designated Geo batteries with multiple funnels and Favonius weapons available. Rarely applicable.
~140-160%Using 2 or more flex characters with poor Energy generation alongside no designated Geo battery.

Favonius weapons typically lower ER requirements by around 15-20% per passive proc. Favonius weapons on supports like Gorou and Zhongli in particular are most effective due to their offensive capabilities being unimportant.

Artifact Sets

Artifact SetDescription
4pc Husk of Opulent DreamsUndisputed best set. When using Serpent Spine, prioritize the weapon stacks over the set bonus.
4pc Gladiator’s FinaleA bit worse than Husk, good if you don’t want to farm Husk since Gladiator pieces drop naturally from World/Weekly bosses and Mystic Offerings.
4pc Echoes of an OfferingIn general, equal to Gladiator but can be better with Serpent Spine (still worse than Husk). Can fall off if Yunjin/Redhorn are present in the team.
4pc Archaic PetraSituationally best for team damage when using Noelle as a driver in 2Geo+2Flex / 3Flex compositions. Keep in mind Petra’s buff cannot be applied to multiple elements at the same time.
4pc Retracing BolideBad domain. Comparable damage to Gladiator.
2pc Husk of Opulent Dreams / 2pc Archaic PetraSplitting your farming between 2 domains is less than ideal due to both 4pc sets (Husk and Petra respectively) being best in slot in their own teams. Focus on one rather than both at the same time.

Weapons

WeaponDescription
Redhorn StonethresherUndisputed best option. Enables the CA-centric playstyle mentioned in Combos.
Serpent SpineBest 4* option and scales well with refines. When using Husk, prioritize the weapon stacks over the set bonus. To gain full stacks in Abyss, put Noelle into your 1st slot and wait 20s before starting the chamber.
Skyward PrideFills Noelle’s ER requirements by itself without the need for any artifact ER substats. Similar performance to Whiteblind.
WhiteblindF2P choice. Scales decently with refines.

Teams

Team-Building

Utilize 3 Geo + Flex, 2 Geo + 2 Flex or 4 Geo compositions. Always reserve at least 1 slot for a Geo battery in the team as Noelle cannot produce her own particles. Without Zhongli, a flex element is important to maintain Geo Resonance uptime beyond Noelle’s own shield.

The teams listed are not comprehensive, and the inclusion of a certain team or lack thereof does not necessarily indicate the power level of the team in question. This list is not ranked.

3 Geo – Flex

The most common variation of Noelle teams, also with the most flexibility. The Geo slot and Flex slot largely depend on the encounter (shield breaking elements etc), with the most notable ones being listed in the next section.

Example Teams

Noelle – Gorou – Albedo – Fischl
Noelle – Zhongli – Traveler (Geo) – Xingqiu

2 Geo – 2 Flex

Due to having 2 flex slots, Gorou isn’t ideal for this archetype. This uses Noelle more for her utilities (shields + heals) and/or as a driver rather than a high-contribution DPS.

Example Teams

Noelle – Albedo – Xingqiu – Yelan
Noelle – Traveler (Geo) – Fischl – Beidou

Full Geo

Classic Mono-Geo. While not being able to create Crystallize Shards for Geo Resonance uptime (without Zhongli), this team archetype makes it up with generous Geo Energy generation, easing Noelle’s ER requirements and the need to funnel particles.

Example Teams

Noelle – Gorou – Albedo – Zhongli
Noelle – Gorou – Traveler (Geo) – Zhongli

Notable Teammates

CharacterDescription
Gorou (battery)Extremely potent buffer and good battery. Use in 3Geo+Flex or 4Geo compositions to maximize Elemental Skill buff (and C6 if applicable).
Albedo (battery)Good battery and offers off-field DPS that is a significant portion of damage in low-mob chambers. Synergizes with Gorou.
Zhongli (battery)Good buffer and powerful shielder as he provides rare Geo RES Shred only found in Geo Resonance. Cheap to build and can be a good battery in mob chambers, though relying on it may prove unreliable. Guarantees 100% uptime on Geo Resonance.
Traveler (Geo) (battery)Good battery and front-loaded damage. Offers a 10% CRIT Rate buff.
Ningguang (battery)Situational replacement for Gorou with TTDS at C2 (casting Skill in >6s intervals to bypass its internal particle cooldown and avoiding Burst entirely), though Gorou will always be better with a high Skill Talent level and/or C6. Utilizing her Ascension 4 Passive can be annoying.
Can also be used as front-loaded damage with a damage-oriented setup (E Q E) but not optimally.
YunjinDecent NA buffing, though she is generally outshined by alternatives (namely Gorou) if not built well.
Noelle struggles to utilise Yunjin’s stacking mechanic outside of AoE content. In addition, Yunjin finds it difficult to have a significant impact due to her high ER requirements (pulling resources away from DEF to raise her buff) or long field time to battery herself (pulling field time away from Noelle).
FischlGreat off-field single-target DPS and decent battery. Her A4 and C6 is utilized well in Noelle teams.
BeidouGood in 2Geo+2Flex teams alongside Fischl.
BennettGood ATK buff for Noelle’s damage, though less effective than in other teams due to Noelle’s large existing ATK pool from her DEF-conversion.
Xingqiu/YelanGreat off-field single-target DPS. Pairs exceptionally well with each other.
CandaceDecent DMG% buffer with okay personal damage at C6.
